May 2009 Newsletter PDF Print E-mail

The intro is below and the full newsletter can be downloaded here.

Where has the time gone? It is hard to believe that this school year is coming to a close. It feels just like yesterday that we were preparing for the arrival of our students from summer break. Now we are preparing for the closing of another successful school year.

I would like to thank all of you for sharing your children with us at Washington Elementary School. It is wonderful to watch them learn and grow during each school year.

I would also like to thank you for the generous support of our school through your volunteer efforts in our classrooms and through activities organized by the PTO. The halls overflowed with your children's contributions to the various food drives, clothing drives and donations to the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the American Cancer Society.

Most of all, I would like to thank you for making Washington Elementary a special place for children. Please know that every contribution of your time and talents, including your attendance at parent/teacher conferences and each of our PTO events helps the children as well as the staff in our school feel valued. Research has shown that parent involvement and interest in their child’s education is the single most important contributing factor to student achievement.

I wish you all a safe and happy summer break.

Sincerely,
Fred T. Pearson
Principal
